Trade between Iran and Afghanistan has reached $3 billion through the Dogharoon business port, Iranian officials said.
Mehdi Shirdel, the governor of Taybad, a town near the Afghanistan border, stated that the trade volume highlights the expanding economic relations between the two countries, according to Iranian media reports.
Additionally, Iranian media reported that 1,200 commercial trucks cross the port daily. Iranian officials have also noted efforts to remove trade barriers at the Dogharoon border to further increase commerce through this route.
This announcement comes as Iran recently reported that 400 of its commercial trucks have been stranded at the border due to the Taliban’s refusal to allow passage.
