Iran, Pakistan expel nearly 700 Afghan migrants in one day

Kabul, Afghanistan — Nearly 700 Afghan migrants were expelled from Iran and Pakistan on Monday, July 15, returning to Afghanistan.

The Taliban-run Ministry of Refugees reported in a statement that Pakistan expelled 264 individuals, while Iran expelled 432.

The ministry noted that 129 migrants entered Afghanistan through the Torkham crossing, and another 135 came through Spin Boldak.

Additionally, 432 migrants crossed into Afghanistan via the Silk Bridge border in Nimroz, according to the statement.

This mass expulsion follows a similar incident the previous day, when Iran and Pakistan expelled 1,614 Afghan migrants.

Despite reports that the UNHCR confirmed a suspension of deportations of Afghan migrants by Pakistan, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that the deportations have not been halted and will continue.
