Afghanistan: Storm, heavy rain claim at least 35 lives in Nangarhar

Severe storm and heavy rain in eastern Nangarhar province have resulted in the deaths of at least 35 people.

Taliban confirmed the fatalities and reported that at least 230 others were injured in the incident.

Siddiqullah Qureshi, the head of publications for the Taliban-run Department of Information and Culture in Nangarhar, stated that the storm also damaged agricultural lands across various parts of the province.

In the Surkhroad district, five members of one family were killed, he said.

The areas most affected include the outskirts of Jalalabad, the provincial capital of Nangarhar.
