ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, has once again claimed that the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is operating in Afghanistan under the Taliban’s watch. Taliban has previously denied both the presence of TTP in Afghanistan and any support for the group.
In a report on his first 100 days in office presented to the Senate committee, Dar stated, “We want the expelling of the TTP from Afghanistan.” This assertion was made during the inaugural meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, chaired by Senator Irfan ul Haque Siddiqui.
According to Pakistani media, Dar emphasized Islamabad’s desire to improve relations with Taliban.
He also briefed the committee on recent engagements with Afghanistan concerning security and health issues discussed at a meeting in Doha and announced plans for an upcoming visit to address these matters.
Dar highlighted that Pakistan is no longer diplomatically isolated and is actively seeking to attract foreign direct investment, expressing optimism about the country’s economic recovery.
Referring to a recent attack on Chinese engineers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dar noted that the TTP aims to disrupt relations between China and Pakistan. “China is very sensitive about security issues. China has a clear stance that it cannot send people to areas facing security challenges,” he said.
Pakistan has recently launched military operations in its northern regions to target militants, whom it accuses of posing security threats. The government holds the TTP responsible for numerous attacks on its security forces.
