TORONTO — Afghan citizens residing in Canada held a demonstration in Toronto, urging the international community to boycott the third round of the Doha meeting on Afghanistan.
The protesters claimed that the Taliban has committed “crimes against humanity” and violating the rights of women and minorities.
They argued that any outcome of the Doha meeting would be invalid due to the absence of representatives from Afghan women and civil society.
In a resolution, the protesters emphasized that the UN has not adequately fulfilled its responsibilities toward Afghanistan. They called on the UN and other international organizations to work toward establishing a “democratic government” in Afghanistan.
The resolution also urged regional countries to assist Afghan citizens in addressing counter-narcotics and drug trafficking challenges.
The Doha meeting on Afghanistan began on Sunday, with its second session expected to start today.
