KABUL, Afghanistan — Taliban arrested Sufi Aziz, the imam of a mosque in Panjshir, along with his son, Inayat, sources in the province said.
According to the sources, the imam was detained in Feraj, Panjshir, on Saturday and there has been no news of their whereabouts.
While the Taliban has not officially commented on the matter, sources claim that the arrest was due to a “violation” of an order from the leader over Eid celebrations.
This comes after the Taliban declared Monday as the first day of Eid al-Adha, yet some residents of Panjshir performed the Eid prayer on Sunday.
