Over 3,500 refugees return to Afghanistan from Pakistan, Iran

The Taliban-run Ministry of Refugees reported that 3,537 refugees were deported or voluntarily returned to Afghanistan from Pakistan and Iran on Wednesday.

The ministry said in a statement that the refugees entered Afghanistan through crossing points in Nangarhar, Kandahar, and Herat provinces. According to the statement, 1,151 refugees were deported by Pakistan, while 2,386 refugees either voluntarily returned or were deported by Iran on the same day.

The statement noted that 19 orphans were among the refugees deported by Iran.

Both Pakistan and Iran have repeatedly stressed the deportation of Afghan refugees from their soil, urging the United Nations to facilitate their return to Afghanistan.
