Bodies of Ebrahim Raisi, companions to be buried in three days

The bodies of Ebrahim Raisi and his companions were taken this morning from the “Martyrs’ Hall” in Tabriz, Iran, for funeral services.

Iranian media reported that the funeral ceremony for Raisi and his companions took place at 9:30 a.m. local time today (Tuesday, May 21) in Tabriz.

These media also stated that funeral ceremonies for Raisi and his companions will continue in other cities, including Tehran and Qom, until Thursday, May 23.

According to Iranian media reports, Ebrahim Raisi’s body will be buried in Mashhad on Thursday.

A public funeral ceremony for Raisi and his companions is expected to be held in Tehran.

Ebrahim Raisi, the President of Iran, along with Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and seven other companions, died on Sunday (May 19) in a helicopter crash in Azerbaijan.

The Iranian government officially announced the death of the President and his companions on Monday morning (May 20).

The cause of the helicopter crash is not yet clear; however, the Mehr news agency reported that the helicopter encountered “adverse weather conditions.”

The helicopter crashed while returning from the Azerbaijan border to the city of Tabriz.

Iranian media have confirmed the deaths of Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and the other passengers aboard the helicopter.
