UN’s DiCarlo meets with Karzai, Abdullah in Afghanistan

UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary A. DiCarlo met with former Afghan President Hamid Karzai and former Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation Abdullah Abdullah during her visit to Afghanistan.

Karzai said on X that the meeting focused on the current situation in Afghanistan and the upcoming Doha meeting.

Karzai emphasized the importance of the UN’s stance and support for the Afghan people, particularly in the fields of education and achieving peace and stability through national understanding.

DiCarlo arrived in Kabul on Saturday, where she met with Taliban officials and prominent Afghan politicians.

Her visit aims to facilitate consensus ahead of the Doha meeting of special envoys on Afghanistan, scheduled for next month.
