Taliban flogs two Individuals in Kabul, Kandahar

KABUL, Afghanistan — Taliban’s supreme court announced that two individuals were flogged on Wednesday in Kandahar and Kabul provinces.

In Kandahar, one person was flogged 39 times by the appellate court for committing robbery and was also sentenced to one year in prison.

In a separate incident reported by the Taliban court in Kabul, another individual received 35 lashes for “sodomy”.

Since December 2022, Taliban has publicly flogged hundreds of individuals in various provinces. Human rights organizations have criticized these actions, noting the accused often lack access to legal representation and a fair trial.
