New figures from the Taliban indicate that 315 people have died and another 1,630 have been injured in recent floods affecting only two districts, Baghlan-e-Markazi and Burka, in the northern province of Baghlan.
The floods also impacted the central city of Pul-e-Khumri and other areas of the province.
According to the Taliban-run refugee department in the province, the casualty figures are from Shaikh Jalal village and Shahrak-e-Sulh area in Baghlan-e-Markazi district, and Shar Shar village in Burka district.

In these areas, the department reported that 2,665 houses have been either destroyed or damaged.
Additionally, the department noted that 1,000 livestock have perished.

The department has warned that these figures are preliminary and the number of casualties may rise.
