Blast targets Taliban forces in Badakhshan; at least three killed

At least three Taliban members were killed and six others injured in an explosion on Wednesday in Faizabad, Badakhshan province, northeastern Afghanistan.

A document from Burhanuddin Rabbani Hospital, received by Amu, indicates the blast was caused by a magnetic mine.

It targeted a Taliban convoy near Pul-e Jawzgon in Faizabad around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 8.

The explosion occurred while a Taliban delegation was in the province to investigate widespread anti-Taliban protests in Badakhshan.

Two Badakhshan residents sent photos from the incident to Amu, saying that the blast targeted Taliban’s counternarcotics chief in the province.

Taliban has not commented on the incident.
