Today, May 3, marks World Press Freedom Day

Today, May 3, is recognized globally as World Press Freedom Day.

In Afghanistan, media outlets commemorate this day while facing severe challenges in accessing information due to Taliban restrictions, according to reports from media support organizations.

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan has expressed concern in its latest report about the arbitrary arrests of journalists and the overall media environment under Taliban rule.

In a message on this day, the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) called for Afghanistan’s journalists to be celebrated, supported, and protected.
