Dozens of schools in India’s capital region evacuated after email bomb threat hoax

Dozens of schools in India’s national capital region were evacuated Wednesday after receiving a bomb threat by email, according to police. Authorities conducted searches at the schools in response.

Officials reported that over 50 schools in Delhi and the neighboring suburb of Noida received the threatening email, causing panic among parents and leading schools to dismiss students early.

Parents gathered outside school gates throughout the region, waiting to pick up their children, as police teams, dog squads, and bomb disposal units inspected the premises. The hoax affected thousands of students from grades 1 to 12.

Delhi police later issued a statement indicating that thorough checks had been carried out in the affected schools, but the threats appeared to be a hoax. No further details about the threat were released.
