Sources confirmed to Amu that Taliban intelligence has arrested several employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Among those detained is Sayed Nabi Nabil, a former advisor at the Afghan embassy in Saudi Arabia, according to these sources.
The reason for Nabil’s arrest remains unclear. His family confirmed his detention to Amu.
A relative of Nabil, who asked to remain anonymous, mentioned that Nabil had been involved in heated discussions and criticisms at recent Foreign Ministry meetings with Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s foreign minister.
Informed sources noted that the number of non-Pashtun employees at the ministry now stands at 60, and Nabil’s arrest has reportedly caused concern among them.
