Freedom Now has renewed its call for the immediate and unconditional release of author Rasul Parsi. The organization stated on Thursday that Parsi was unjustly arrested in March 2023 for criticizing the Taliban.
In October 2023, Parsi was sentenced to 16 months in prison on charges of blasphemy.
The Taliban has arrested and tortured dozens of human rights activists, journalists, and critics over the past two and a half years.
