Taliban publicly flogs two in Kapisa for robbery

Taliban publicly flogged two people in Kapisa province on charges of robbery, according to Taliban’s supreme court.

The court said in a statement that each individual was flogged 30 times.

The identities of those flogged were not disclosed.

However, the court noted that one individual was sentenced to three years in prison and the other to 18 months.

This follows a similar incident where the Taliban’s supreme court reported a public flogging in Zabul.

Human rights organizations have repeatedly expressed concerns over the lack of legal protections within the Taliban’s judiciary system.
