Taliban member killed in gunmen attack in Pakistan

A key Taliban member, Mohammad Omar Jan Akhundzada, was killed in an attack by gunmen in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province, Pakistan.

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid denounced the killing of Akhundzada on X, calling it a “crime.”

Mujahid noted that Akhundzada served on the Taliban’s monitoring committee and was also an instructor at the Taliban’s Jahadia madrassa in Kandahar.

Details of the incident remain unclear, but sources told Amu that unknown gunmen targeted Akhundzada, leading to his death. The exact location of the attack was not disclosed.
