Taliban warns of heavy rainfalls, floods across Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan — The Taliban’s Ministry of Transportation and Aviation has issued a warning for heavy rainfalls and potential floods in 29 of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces over the next two days.

According to the ministry’s statement, the provinces of Badakhshan, Takhar, Balkh, Panjshir, Nuristan, Konar, Nangarhar, Laghman, Kapisa, Parwan, Kabul, Samangan, Sar-e Pol, Faryab, Bamyan, Maidan Wardak, Logar, Paktia, Khost, Paktika, Ghazni, Daykundi, Badghis, Ghor, Helmand, Uruzgan, Kandahar, Zabul, and the Salang passes are expected to experience significant rainfall and flooding from April 19 to 20.

Earlier, Janan Saeq, spokesman for the Taliban’s Ministry of Disaster Management, told Amu in an interview that recent severe floods and heavy rains have already claimed the lives of at least 70 people across the country.
