Iranians celebrate attack against Israel, launching fireworks and waving flares

Iranians descended on the streets of Tehran on Sunday (April 14) to celebrate Iran’s attack against Israel.

While some citizens joined the celebrations in vehicles, beeping their horns and waving flags out of windows, others participated on foot, launching fireworks and chanting “death to Israel”.

“With this act (Iran’s attack), we can have some of that strong revenge,” an Iranian citizen said. “We hope this attack continues to the point that Israel is destroyed.”

“The punishment of Israel must be done completely because the cruelty that has been done to the people of Gaza must not stay unresponded,” another Iranian citizen said.

Sharing his view on the significance of the attack, one unnamed Iranian citizen said, “With this act (Iran’s attack) we can have some of that strong revenge. We hope this attack continues to the point that Israel is destroyed.”

Iran late on Saturday (April 13) launched a swarm of explosive drones and fired missiles at Israel in its first-ever direct attack on Israeli territory. The attack is an apparent retaliation to what Iran called an Israeli strike on its Damascus consulate on April 1 that killed seven Guards officers, risking a major escalation as the United States pledged “ironclad” backing for Israel.
