Taliban releases over 400 prisoners in Kabul for Eid

Taliban released 404 inmates from Pul-e Charkhi prison in Kabul to mark Eid al-Fitr, according to the Taliban-run Bakhtar News Agency.

The release followed a decree by Taliban leader Hibatullah Akhundzada.

The group of released prisoners comprised 338 men, 40 women, and 28 children.

Taliban has not provide reasons for their detention.

Taliban figures indicate that approximately 19,000 individuals, including 25 foreign nationals, are currently detained, with 850 of them being women.
