16 Afghan nationals released from prisons in Pakistan

The Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees has announced the release of 16 Afghan nationals from prisons in Peshawar, Pakistan.

According to the ministry, the individuals were freed on April 4 and have since been returned to Afghanistan.

The detainees had been held for periods ranging from one month to two and a half years.

The statement did not specify the reasons for their detention.

Both Pakistan and Iran have intensified efforts to deport Afghan refugees in recent times.

Pakistan, in particular, has detained hundreds of Afghan nationals for lacking proper legal documents.
