Russia continues counter-terrorism cooperation with Taliban, envoy says

MOSCOW — Russia’s special envoy for Afghanistan, Zamir Kabulov, has affirmed the country’s ongoing cooperation with the Taliban in counter-terrorism efforts “on a regular basis,” though specifics were not disclosed.

“There is nothing special to add here,” Kabulov commented during an interview with the Russian news agency TASS.

Kabulov also mentioned that a Taliban delegation has been invited to the “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum” discussions. “Yes, they are planning to participate; they have been invited,” he told TASS.

The “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum,” an international economic forum, is scheduled to take place from May 14-19 in Kazan.
