Taliban flogs two for extramarital affairs in Kabul

KABUL, Afghanistan — The Taliban’s supreme court announced Thursday that two individuals were flogged 35 times each in Kabul on charges of “extramarital affairs.”

According to the court, the punishment was administered at a local court in District 4 of Kabul. The statement did not disclose details about the accused but mentioned that both were also sentenced to one year in prison.

Over the past two years, the Taliban has publicly flogged hundreds in various provinces for a range of offenses.
