Taliban forcibly takes girl from home in Ghor province

GHOR PROVINCE, Afghanistan — A video obtained by Amu from local sources shows several Taliban members allegedly attacking a house and taking a 17-year-old girl.

According to the sources, the incident, aimed at forcing the girl to marry a close aide of the Taliban district governor, occurred in the Pasaband district of Ghor province, central Afghanistan, on Saturday, March 23.

The footage shows family members desperately attempting to prevent the girl’s abduction. It further suggests that in response to resistance, the Taliban members resorted to physically assaulting the woman’s family.

Identified in the video are local Taliban figures, including Khairullah Khairkhwah, the Taliban district governor of Pasaband, and Abdul Hamid Khalid, the district’s Taliban police commander, according to sources from the province.

Taliban officials in Ghor refused to comment on the video.
