Pakistan’s commerce secretary to visit Kabul amid tensions

ISLAMABAD — Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, announced that Muhammad Khurram Agha, the Commerce Secretary, is scheduled to visit Afghanistan on Monday, March 25, 2024, for discussions on trade matters.

The two-day visit aims to enhance trade and people-to-people ties with Afghanistan, despite recent tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan following last week’s airstrikes by Pakistan.

Baloch emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to fostering trade relations with Afghanistan but did not elaborate on the specifics of the trip.

The visit coincides with recent disruptions at the Torkham border crossing, which was closed for at least four hours on Sunday.
