Rainfall and floods kill two in northern Afghanistan

Heavy rainfall and flash floods in the northern provinces of Faryab and Sar-e-Pul have resulted in at least two fatalities and significant financial losses for residents, Taliban officials reported.

The Taliban-operated Bakhtar News Agency (BNA) detailed that the downpours affected several districts, including Almar, Garziwan, Qaisar, Chehelgazi, Khwaja Sabz Posh, and Kohistanat.

Local Taliban authorities disclosed that the natural disaster damaged at least 50 homes, one school, and numerous hectares of agricultural land, emphasizing the broad impact of the floods and rainfall on the community.

In Sar-e-Pul province, local Taliban officials said, floods killed one child and destroyed at least 34 homes.
