US chargé d’affaires condemns Kandahar attack as ‘cowardly act’

US Charge d’Affaires Karen Decker

Karen Decker, the US Chargé d’Affaires for Afghanistan, condemned the attack in Kandahar on Thursday, which, according to sources, claimed the lives of at least 19 individuals. She described the incident as a “cowardly act.”

Expressing her condolences to the families of the victims, Decker stated on X that Afghans should be allowed to “observe Ramadan peacefully and without fear.”

“We condemn all acts of terror, whether they occur in the Dasht-e-Barchi neighborhood of Kabul or outside the New Kabul Bank in Kandahar, as cowardly acts,” Decker emphasized.

Sources close to the situation reported that the death toll from the Kandahar explosion has risen to 19, with more than 30 others injured.
