Pakistani soldier killed in cross-border clash with Taliban

ISLAMABAD — A Pakistani soldier was killed and two others were wounded in a cross-border clash with the Taliban in the Parachinar area of Kurram District on Monday, according to Pakistani media.

The exchange of fire began on Monday following early morning airstrikes by the Pakistani military in Afghanistan’s Paktika and Khost provinces.

The Taliban reported that eight civilians died in the airstrikes.

Sources from the Dand-e-Patan district in Paktia province, where the clash occurred, indicated that two children were killed in the skirmishes, prompting many local residents to flee their homes.
