At least four dead in Valencia apartment fire

A fire that started Thursday, Feb. 22, in an apartment building in Valencia, Spain, has resulted in at least four deaths, emergency services reported.

The blaze began on the fourth floor of a building in an affluent neighborhood north of the city center and quickly spread to other floors.

Firefighters battled the fire on Friday, Feb. 23, as the entire facade of the building was engulfed in flames, causing burning debris to fall to the pavement below and triggering small explosions within the structure.

Local media reported that several residents were still trapped inside, with some calling for help from their apartment balconies.
