Taliban refutes UN findings on women’s rights in Afghanistan

Taliban has refuted a United Nations report detailing the current state of women’s rights in Afghanistan.

Responding to the UN’s findings, Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid claimed in a statement that “foreign circles” are exaggerating these issues. The UN report disclosed that Afghan women are experiencing significant fear and apprehension at the prospect of the Taliban receiving international recognition.

According to the report, the Taliban have enacted over 50 decrees in the past three years, severely restricting women’s rights and dignity. The UN emphasized that its report was based on quarterly consultations conducted from Jan. 27 to Feb. 8, 2024.
