Taliban flog two people in Kabul for affair charges

The Taliban’s Supreme Court in Kabul administered flogging to two individuals on Thursday for charges of “illegitimate relations.”

According to the court’s statement, both were previously sentenced to six months in prison by the primary court of the fourth penal zone.

The court disclosed that each individual received 35 lashes, but did not reveal their identities.

This incident is part of a larger pattern observed since the Taliban’s return to power over two years ago, during which they have publicly flogged hundreds of people for various offenses.

A United Nations report indicates that in the last six months of the previous year, the Taliban publicly flogged 274 men and 58 women on various charges.
