Pakistan deports nearly 2,700 Afghan migrants amid ongoing deportations

Pakistan has deported nearly 2,700 Afghan migrants through the Torkham and Spin Boldak border crossings in the past five days, continuing its crackdown on undocumented immigrants.

Pakistani media reports indicate that since last November, approximately 478,300 Afghan migrants have been repatriated to Afghanistan.

Additionally, the International Organization for Migrants reveals that since October 2023, half a million Afghan migrants have been deported from Pakistan.

This large-scale return of migrants to Afghanistan, amidst a humanitarian crisis and the onset of winter, raises significant concerns about their welfare.

Many returnees, having left their belongings in Pakistan, now face challenges including a lack of shelter and basic facilities in Afghanistan.
