US-owned container ship attacked by Houthi militants off Yemeni coast

A US-owned container ship, the M/V Gibraltar Eagle, came under attack off the coast of Yemen, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement.

CENTCOM confirmed that the ship was struck by an anti-ship ballistic missile launched by Iranian-backed Houthi militants.

The attack occurred at approximately 4 p.m. local time in Yemen.

There were no reported injuries or significant damage to the M/V Gibraltar Eagle, which is continuing its scheduled journey, the statement said.

Earlier on the same day, US Forces detected another missile launch aimed at the Southern Red Sea’s commercial shipping lanes, the statement said.

These incidents mark a concerning escalation in the region, highlighting the ongoing conflict in Yemen and the growing tension in the Red Sea’s strategic shipping lanes.
