Three wounded in explosion outside Taliban governor’s office in Nimroz

An explosion occurred outside the office of the Taliban governor in Nimroz province, located in southwestern Afghanistan.

A spokesperson for the Taliban-run Ministry of Interior said that the blast happened by “an attacker with a suicide vest” outside the Taliban governor’s office in Nimroz.

He said the attacker was stopped and gunned down before reaching his target, adding that three people were wounded in the incident.

Reports indicate that a gunfight ensued in the vicinity following the explosion.

The attack comes as Afghanistan has witnessed at least eight attacks so far this year. On Jan. 11, a blast in the west of Kabul killed at least six people.
