Pakistan advances repatriation of undocumented Afghan nationals

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Pakistan’s ongoing effort to repatriate undocumented Afghan nationals has led to the return of 465,614 individuals to Afghanistan as of Jan. 11, 2024, according to Pakistani media reports.

On Thursday, Jan. 11, a group of 958 Afghan citizens, including 210 men, 198 women, and 550 children, departed from Pakistan.

These individuals, who had been living in various Pakistani cities without legal documentation, were part of the latest group to be repatriated.

The return process involved 51 vehicles transporting 75 families. This initiative is part of Pakistan’s broader efforts to facilitate the return of Afghan citizens who were residing in the country without legal status.
