Death toll in Kabul minibus blast rises to five

The death toll from Saturday’s explosion in Kabul’s Dasht-e-Barchi area has risen to five, the Taliban stated. Khalid Zadran, a spokesman for the Taliban security department in Kabul, also confirmed that 15 others were injured in the blast.

The explosion, which targeted a civilian minibus on Saturday evening, Jan. 6, marks the latest in a series of attacks in the area, often claimed by Daesh.

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan reported that the incident resulted in a combined total of 25 casualties, including both deaths and injuries.

Dasht-e-Barchi has faced multiple attacks over the past two years, with Daesh frequently claiming responsibility. This latest attack, occurring on Saturday, has also been claimed by the group, marking the first such incident in the area this year.
