WHO concerned as Gaza’s Kamal Adwan Hospital becomes non-functional

Richard Peeperkorn, the World Health Organization representative in Gaza, expressed concern over the state of healthcare facilities in the region.

He reported that Gaza’s Kamal Adwan hospital is “not functional anymore.”

The WHO is currently collecting information at the hospital. Gazan authorities have accused Israeli forces of using a bulldozer to breach the perimeter of the site, which Israel claims was utilized by Hamas fighters.

Hamas, the group governing Gaza, has denied using the Kamal Adwan or other hospitals for militant activities.

“We cannot afford to lose any hospitals,” Peeperkorn stated, highlighting the critical role these facilities play for internally displaced people located on hospital grounds. He also mentioned the Al Shifa hospital, previously occupied by Israel during the conflict, which Israel claims had been used by Hamas.
