UN Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in Afghanistan, Richard Bennett, engaged in discussions with Suhail Shaheen, the head of the Taliban’s political office in Doha on Monday.
Bennett, in a statement on X, highlighted that the meeting covered various topics, including women’s rights and children’s rights, particularly in the context of education.
He also emphasized his plea for the release of human rights defenders and the importance of upholding the general amnesty in Afghanistan.
This development unfolds amid the ongoing detainment of at least four women’s rights activists by the Taliban since September.
