Figures released by the Taliban-run Ministry of Refugees show that 1,834 migrants made their way back to Afghanistan from Iran through the Islam Qala border town on Tuesday, December 5. This number closely mirrors the figures from the preceding day.

Among the returnees, 350 were identified as vulnerable individuals and have been referred to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for assistance.

The Ministry of Refugees clarified that these migrants had either voluntarily returned or were deported from Iran.

In recent weeks, there has been a consistent influx, with nearly 2,000 migrants returning from Iran on a daily basis, highlighting the ongoing dynamics of migration in the region.
