Mawlawi Khodadad Saleh, the former head of the council of religious scholars for the western zone in Herat, passed away in Pakistan due to illness on Tuesday.
Sources said that Saleh had been undergoing treatment in Pakistan for a period of time in connection with his health issues.
Khodadad Saleh also held positions as the president of Al-Ghiyas University and Nagin Al-Ghiyas TV in Herat.
Former President Hamid Karzai expressed his condolences in a message, describing Khodadad Saleh as a “reformer” and lamenting his passing as a “great loss.”
