Critical fuel shortage forces Gaza’s Al-Shifa Hospital to suspend operations

Al-Shifa, Gaza’s largest hospital, has ceased accepting patients, with ambulances no longer evacuating the injured to the facility, Mohamed Kandil, a doctor at the hospital, reported. Kandil, from Nasser Hospital, relayed information from colleagues at Al-Shifa, who are struggling with communication breakdowns.

Kandil expressed grave concerns for patients, including children and infants, especially those in intensive care. “Kids and newborns in the ICU face death due to lack of resources. Forty patients are at imminent risk without fuel, water, or safe evacuation,” he stated.

In recent days, more than 100,000 residents have fled south as Israeli forces intensified operations in Gaza City.

The Gaza Health Ministry’s spokesperson confirmed on Saturday that operations at the Al-Shifa hospital complex were suspended due to a fuel shortage.
