Israeli airstrike targets Nuseirat camp in Gaza: Rescuers hunt for survivors

As Gaza’s Nuseirat refugee camp was targeted by Israeli airstrikes on Tuesday, rescuers combed through the debris into the evening, searching for survivors.

Local residents report that at least 41 individuals died in the immediate aftermath of the strike, with concerns growing over the number of people possibly trapped beneath the rubble.

This comes amid escalating tensions in the region, as Israel intensifies its military campaign against Hamas, following a severe attack on October 7. Israeli forces have been employing tanks in Gaza operations for over four days, after weeks of aerial bombardments. Another airstrike earlier the same Tuesday struck a separate refugee camp in Gaza, resulting in the death of an estimated 50 Palestinians.
