Magnitude 4.9 earthquake strikes Herat amid ongoing crisis

Herat province, already reeling from the devastating earthquakes that struck on Saturday, experienced yet another seismic event with a magnitude of 4.9.

The quake occurred around 11:30 a.m. local time on Monday.

Residents of Herat have expressed heightened anxiety, with many choosing to leave their homes and seek refuge on the streets, fearful of further seismic activity.

The earthquakes on Saturday had a profound impact on the Zenda Jan district of Herat, resulting in the destruction of more than 12 villages within the district and causing extensive casualties.
