Afghanistan: Nine people, including a woman, flogged in public in Zabul

A Taliban court flogged in public nine people including a woman, in Zabul province on Sunday on charges of robbery and having an affair, according to a Taliban statement.

According to the statement, a number of local Taliban officials, including the head of the Taliban court Mawlawi Naqibullah Akhundzada, and Zabul residents had attended the event in the city of Qalat.

The statement has not provided further details about the matter.

Taliban has lashed in public at least 300 people since last December after its leader announced the implementation of Sharia law in their courts.
