Polio vaccination campaign commences in northern Afghanistan

The World Health Organization (WHO) has unveiled the commencement of a polio vaccination campaign spanning across five provinces in northern Afghanistan.

In an announcement shared via social media on Sunday, the WHO revealed that the campaign that starts on Monday will target Balkh, Jawzjan, Samangan, Sar-e-pul, and Faryab provinces.

The organization has made an appeal to the public, urging cooperation with the campaign’s personnel to facilitate extensive polio vaccination coverage for children aged below five years.

The latest phase of the polio vaccination campaign coincides with Afghanistan grappling with the detection of five confirmed polio cases this year.
