Strong 6.5 magnitude earthquake jolts Kabul, other cities in Afghanistan

No casualties have been reported but Baghlan residents say some houses were damaged in the Deh Salah district in the province

A 6.5 magnitude earthquake jolted Kabul and other cities in Afghanistan at around 9:20 local time on Tuesday.

The epicenter of the earthquake was in Jurm district in the northeastern province of Badakhshan.

Two residents of Kabul who sent videos to Amu said that a number of buildings in the Arabs Township in northeast of Kabul city were damaged in the earthquake.

Meanwhile, residents of Baghlan province in northern Afghanistan said a number of houses were destroyed in Deh Salah district in Baghlan province.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid in a statement asked all relevant institutions to stay alert to help those affected, but he added that no casualties had been reported so far.
