A traffic accident in northern Afghanistan has killed four people and injured two others, Taliban police command said.

The crash occurred Friday evening in Dawlat Abad district of Faryab province, near the Jangal area, according to a statement from the Taliban provincial police command.

The injured were taken to a local hospital, where one of the victims later died from wounds, the statement said.

The statement did not provide further details about the cause of the accident.

It urged drivers to observe traffic laws and exercise caution on the roads.

Traffic accidents have increased across Afghanistan in recent months, with poor road conditions, lack of traffic signs and reckless driving frequently cited as contributing factors.

According to Taliban figures, more than 1,500 people have been killed in traffic accidents across Afghanistan in 2025, with thousands more injured.
