Taliban intelligence has ordered domestic media outlets not to cover areas targeted in recent Pakistani airstrikes, several sources familiar with the directive said on Sunday.

The instruction was conveyed by Taliban intelligence officials to journalists and news organizations, the sources said.

In some cases, they said, intelligence personnel monitored media offices and newsroom operations to ensure compliance.

Media outlets were warned not to defy the order, the sources added.

The restrictions come as Pakistani fighter jets have carried out airstrikes since Thursday night in multiple parts of Afghanistan, including areas of Kabul, according to local accounts.

Despite reports that parts of Kabul were hit, journalists have not been allowed to approach or film the affected sites, the sources said.

The Taliban have not publicly commented on the reported media restrictions.
