Pakistan deported 11,567 Afghan migrants over the past week, according to figures compiled by Amu from Taliban refugee commission’s statements, down from the week earlier when over 19,000 individuals were expelled.

The deportations occurred between Feb. 14- 20, though the total reflects returns recorded over four days.

An additional 750 individuals were deported from Iran during the same period, most of them forcibly, according to the data.

Returnees crossed into Afghanistan through the border points of Torkham, Spin Boldak, Bahramcha, Pul-e-Abrisham and Islam Qala.

Afghanistan has seen a sharp rise in deportations from neighboring countries — particularly Pakistan — over the past two years as Islamabad has intensified efforts to remove undocumented migrants.

The United Nations has previously said that about 2.6 million Afghans returned to the country in 2025 alone, warning that large-scale returns are placing heavy pressure on Afghanistan’s already limited resources and humanitarian response capacity.
